ELAC STUDENT USER'S GUIDE |
This website is a blessing to students who are studying Psychology. There are all sorts of helpful links in general, however I wish to focus on its use as a tool to assist students who chose to do extra credit assignments and need to locate a recent journal article. What follows is a step by step guide to using the site for this purpose. First click on the Home Page to obtain an overview - then use the "back" button on your browser to return to this page: |

You may have noticed that below the banner at the top of the page there is a heading, "Public Publications". If you put your cursor over top here a menu of choices will appear, one of the being, under "Print Media" a subheading "Journals" - this is where you want to go. If you are feeling pretty confident you can just click here and explore at will. For those less confident, it may be easier to go to the more direct route, click on the link below with the instructions that will follow beneath: |

Once you find yourself on this page you have choices. You can click on "List of Journals" or "Browse Journals"; or use the"By Topic" or Alphabetically" drop down menues. My suggestion, if you are not in the mood for experimenting, is to go to "List of Journals" and click here whereupon you will see a very lengthy list of the titles of journals in the field of psychology. Pick one and click on it. For example if you chose "Journal of Abnormal Psychology" you will see that the title of three recent journal articles come into view. If you have a PDF reader as most computers do (if not you will have to click first on the yellow and red icon that says "PDF" and download Adobe Reader 5.0 or higher) then just click on the article of interest and it will appear on your monitor and if you think that it is something you are interested in, then click on print and you will have the article you need to do the extra credit project. |
